Embracing the squiggly life
“Eventually, you’ll end up where you need to be,
with who you’re meant to be with,
and doing what you should be doing.”
Most of my friends know me as a planner. Someone who loves to plan her week in advance and takes pride in carrying her organizer everywhere she goes. Heck, even my DISC test results that I took back in 2019 say that I’m someone “who likes to prepare so meticulously that at the decision moment nothing needs to change.” LOL. That’s because when things go as planned, I feel in control.
But over the past year, I’ve learnt that no matter how much I plan and how clear I think my path from point A to B is going to be, the reality is that life is never linear. It is in fact very messy and unpredictable. Along the way, we might change our minds after being presented with new information or opportunities, or be forced to take a detour after experiencing some setbacks or rejections. But you know what, that’s perfectly okay.
Through all the mess, ambiguity and uncertainty, I’ve learned that sometimes when we embrace the unplanned and randomness of life, our lives can work out so much better than what we planned or ever imagined. As the saying goes, serendipity tends to happen when we least expect it :)
And that my friends, is how life is supposed to be; squiggly, messy, unpredictable.
